dude, your the only one I have ever heard mention a carbon arc, a shooter I used to assist had two of these, it had a rod that you cranked towards the electrode and it would buzz like hell, then it would pop every breaker in the joint after a few minutes, it was huuuge! Oh yea, I agree, period lighting is a bitch.
