Nick (And anyone else generating stomach acid over this issue),
We reallyl ike the original image. We don't care if it is in the box or out of the box. We don't view it as an experiemental image or that it rises or fails on the issue of wether or not it was done or looks authentic. We like the image just as it is.
We do experiment with lighting and diferent subjects every day. Have done so for the last thirty-five years. Hopefully, we have a few good ones ahead of us.
So, let's just agree to disagree. You shoot your way, experiment all you want. Continue to maintain your own standards and preferences, and we'll do the same. That's about all any of us can do.
We shoot the way we do, and share the images we share on the forums because we like the way they look. It's O.K. that you don't. It's O.K. that you feel the need to critique them. But please don't get the mistaken impression that we're going to change our style because someone doesn't like it. We enjoy our work and like the way it looks. Please understand that we see faults in it and things we want to work to improve all the time. We just enjoy what we do and plan to continue doing it that way.
Perhaps if we had said, "Here's another fairly pedestrian image of a girl named Amy that looks like all the other images we post" we might not be having this discussion. Who knows. But, we do like what we do, that's why we do it.
