It isn't a design flaw or anything AT ALL within the dig. cam., it is NOT even a "digital camera" thing like you mentioned in your post...a very good old, simple photography principle.....here is how it works within the dig. cam...
Let say when you use a 2x tele converter on your film based camera, how many stops do you have to compensate for that? 2 stops right. 1x tele is 1 stop. So with that in mind, when the camera has 1.6x factor to the focal lenght due to it's smaller sensor size, it bascially like has a 0.6 tele converter built-in inside of the camera, (1.3x factor is like having 0.3 tele covereter)
So with that, camera that has 1.6x factor needs 0.6 stop comp. and 1.3x needs 0.3 stop.At least that's my theory and so far, it is pretty accurate. Like I said in my original post, I don't have problem with exposure or anything because I figure that part out (with my tele. theory) but what I CAN"T figure out is color balance....
