David,
You raise a timely and persistent issue for photographers and models.
Our response would be that you are using the term "Model" incorrectly. What you are really talking about, from our point of view is, "Wanna-be-model". Real live models do not behave as you have described. Wanna-be-models almost always do. Even Wanna-be-models who make good money from photographers and are "Hired" frequently, and thus refer to and think of themselves as "Experienced" or "Highly Experienced" regularly behave this way.
BUT, what we refer to as the "Real Model" never behaves this way. The Real Model understands that their best source for future employment and bigger and better jobs is the photographers they network with and learn from. They understand that Modeling is a business and they conduct themselves in a businesslike manner. This means that they are well organized, disciplined, responsible, self-starters and lots of other things that space doesn't allow going into.

We don't mean to put anyone down or make anyone feel bad or demean anyones efforts. And, we also want to say that we recognize that almost everyone gets better with time and practice.

All we are saying is that real models approach their profession quite diferently than do wanna-be-models. Real models study and learn, and they are very serious about their career goals. They want to succeed at modeling and make it a top priority rather than something interesting to do on the weekend and make a few bucks.

We appreciate and share in your frustration.
