Some very good points, Elizabeth.

I see two problems in regard to testing, but I'll stay out of the rest of this discussion.

1) A model shouldn't ask to be paid simply to test (or TFP or whatever moniker you like to give it, it's all the same). Shared expenses for shared results that neither one will profit directly from sounds fair to me. There might be circumstances where she should get travel pay to come from an hour or two away, but that's negotiable and not payment for services.

2) Photographers should not ask models to pose nude in a test if she has examples to show. If she doesn't have examples, she ought to generate some before charging to pose nude, but that's not something that ought to be "tested". Rookie models get that request all the time, some fall for it.
