James,
I've never tried to answer one of your questions, I've never met you in person. I have no beef with you. My only impression of you is from Rick's Forum, and my views are therefore limited by my impression.
First of all, it seems that you are wanting answers that fit into your mode of operation rather than answers that will stretch you as a person and photographer. I can relate to your equipment dilema, but I feel your main dilema is the mindset you let yourself slip into. I wholeheartedly agree with James when he says a trained eye is so much more important than the fancy cameras and do dads.
Second of all, find yourself a mentor that you can work with occasionally, who can help you personally on the methods you're having a problem with. But be prepared to listen and act on advise given you. Nothing will sour a relationship faster than ignoring good advise that was asked for.
Thirdly, running away from this forum is the worst thing you can do because it is one thing I believe you need....relationship with other photographers. Certainly, we are independant as hell, often arrogant, and somtimes just plain rude. But inspite of all our faults, you need us and we need you. Sometimes we are teachers, sometimes we are students. Sometimes we are leaders, sometimes we are followers...and sometimes we're so lost we can't find the shutter release. Please try to hear what those who answer your questions are trying to say and forget about the manner in which its presented. LEARN and progress in your craft.
Farewell All
Farewell All
