Seeing light

Ron, one thing you might want to think about doing is to turn off all but one light. To do artistic work, it's best to start with one light, using plenty of shadows, then add complexity. That abs shot would be far more powerful as a low-key shot, with only a few details showing, allowing the mind to fix on the ripples. The structure of the shot, at least to my eye, is just fine. The way to make it more artistic is to tinker with the light.
This shot of Kithos is one that would never make it into a glamour magazine. It's a little too pretty for some people's "art" taste, but the intent is to use shadows to emphasize the shapes.
